Patrick Lurati, an out of the ordinary President and CEO

Starting from almost nothing a decade ago, after nine years with Adecco, Patrick Lurati now runs a company with over 35 employees, present in four towns in French-speaking Switzerland. In ten years of business, Lurati Emploi has become leader in its sector. The President and CEO, still in his forties, reveals some of the secrets of his success.

Passion

"Work represents more than a passion: it is my stability. I give so much of myself to the company that I sometimes have the impression that I'm married to it!"

Presence

"The boss of a company must set an example, like the conductor of an orchestra, a motivator, someone who rallies his troops. For me, his constant presence is indispensable. It's a little like going to eat in a gastronomic restaurant when the chef is absent: it's not the same thing."

Motivation

"I often tell my consultants that to motivate their employees and obtain the best results, they must before anything be liked and respected.
The pleasure of working for a person whom one appreciates is often more motivating than financial rewards."

Loyalty

"I'm very loyal in business. Moreover, I regard the client as a partner. Not only do you get more pleasure from doing a favor to a partner than to a simple client, but this cements the relationship. I have learned that you must always give before receiving."

Perfectionism

"I look for quality and perfection in the human being. I consequently demand a professional and responsible commitment from my employees. I consider that this is the least we can do for all our clients, who naturally have the right to expect the best."

Strictness

"Without strict management, it is useless to think of lasting. For me, a franc has always been a franc. I started from nothing, without any help from the banks and I do not like the idea of being in debt. This is a very Swiss thing, but it is nevertheless indispensable to the good running of a business.

Atmosphere

"I often say that to work with Lurati Emploi, it's a little like driving a 2 CV: it's a state of mind. A happy atmosphere in a company makes it possible to be even more efficient in serving the clients."

Eclecticism

"The success of a company also depends on the power to blend types and generations. The employees of Lurati Emploi are aged from 16 to 66!"

Ambition

"My ambition has never been to become a millionaire, I like sharing and giving too much. Having said that, it is always necessary to have a minimum of ambition. Lurati Emploi will therefore continue its expansion in the course of the next years. But always retaining this human side which gives it its strength."
